1st meeting of the Southern Regulators Informal Group (SRIG)

On October the 20th, 2021, representatives of National Regulatory Authorities from the EU Member states of southern Europe, met in Athens in the first meeting of the Southern Regulators Informal Group (SRIG). The meeting was an initiative undertaken by the regulatory authorities of Greece and France, and was welcomed by the NRAs of Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain.

The Presidents of Southern Regulators acknowledged the value of close cooperation to discuss and exchange views and positions on common issues and developments in the European energy sector and presented their views on the benefits from such a cooperation regarding the existing or potential regional opportunities and challenges in the European south.

Southern Regulators expressed their views regarding their common participation in international and regional Organizations and agreed to seek ways to enhance their cooperation within them.

The Presidents of Southern Regulators discussed the impact of the current crisis of power and natural gas prices in European and national level, and issues relating to system resilience in the European south.
