RAE is responsible to grant, modify or revoke any licenses for the exercise of energy activities, in accordance with the specific provisions of the Energy Law, provided that the principles of transparency and equal treatment are observed. The special characteristics of applicants, consumer protection, and environmental protection are also considered to ensure a healthy competitive environment.

RAE, during the issuance of licenses, takes all necessary actions so that the licenses comply with the provisions of the Long-Term Energy Planning of the country, as well as with any restrictions included in it or in any binding text submitted by the Hellenic Republic to European Commission or the International Organizations.

RAE monitors and controls the exercise of the rights provided by these licenses, as well as the observance of the obligations by the license holders.
