Generation

Based on the current institutional framework, electricity production is allowed to the holders of an Electricity Generation License, granted by RAE, based on the provisions of Law 4001/2011 (Government Gazette A’179) and the Regulation of Electricity Generation and Supply Licenses (Government Gazette B ‘1498 / 8.12.2000). It should be noted that, for the interconnected System and based on the provisions of the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System Operation Code, “dispatchable units” are defined as the units that use conventional fuel, the large hydroelectric units with capacity over 15 MW, as well as the CHP units with a capacity over 35 MW.

 

  1. Electronic submission of the accompanying application document for the issuance of an Electricity Generation License or an exemption decision.
  2. Application forms for the issuance of an Electricity Generation License for electricity generating sets, per case:
  • Application for the issuance of an electricity generation license for electricity generating sets, with capacity greater than 20 kW, of continuous and autonomous operation for companies.
  • Application for the issuance of an electricity generation license for electricity generating sets, with capacity greater than 20 kW, of continuous and autonomous operation for households.

 

  1. Application forms for the issuance of an exemption decision from the requirement of holding an electricity generation license, according to the provisions of article 132 (11) of Law 4001/2011, per case:
    • Application for an exemption decision for electricity generating sets up to 20 kW (case n. 1)
    • Application for an exemption decision for backup electricity generating sets (case n. 2)
    • Application for an exemption decision for power plant installations up to 2 MW operated by educational or research organisations (case n. 3)
    • Application for an exemption decision for power plants installed by CRES (case n. 4)
    • Application for an exemption decision for the facilities or units in which electricity is generated by non-conventional methods as a consequence of the exercise of their main activity which is different than the production of electricity (case n. 5)
